TRANSITION WINTER TO SPRING Decor IN YOUR HOME
Are you ready to transition winter to spring decor in your home?
Winter is that time between the holiday season and spring. We can’t wait for warmer weather and we’re ready to lighten up the décor in our home! While it’s not yet spring, there are great ways to transition to that spring feeling, starting inside your home. The thing I love most about getting our home back in shape after the craziness of the holiday season is simplifying things.
During January the blog was about decluttering, and about getting organized and minimizing all the stuff. In part, the process of decluttering is about making room for new seasons and all their beauty. It can be difficult to find the perfect balance between winter and the coming days of spring. Here are some ideas to help you subtly transition your home, without rushing into it.

Use Valentine’s and St. Patrick’s to Bring in Some Color
Something that helps keep your mind off of cold winter days is decorating for the holidays in February and March. Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day are fun reasons to bring some festive color into your home. As always, the SunflowerDesigns2018 Etsy shop has you covered with wreaths. This is just one of the choices. Head on over to see if there’s something that will help you bring some new beauty into your home!
Add Fresh Color
I like to use indoor plants year-round as part of my home décor, so that beautiful greenery is always present. But now is the time to add some pops of color with greens of a lighter hue, or some fresh or silk florals. Being a wreath maker, I always have fresh silk florals on hand and bonus…silk florals can be used year after year.
If you don’t have silk flowers or a vase at your disposal, you can find them almost anywhere. One of my favorites is this bundle of silk hydrangeas. Not only are these beautiful for your home, they are perfect for wedding bouquets and wedding décor. You can find these beautiful faux blooms here
Set Out Fresh Fruit
A bowl of fruit can add color and texture to any surface. Citrus fruits are so pretty and colorful – just keep monitoring the fruit, so you can refrigerate anything that has not been eaten before it gets soft.
Color isn’t limited to florals or indoor plants. Think home accessories. Add some lavender pillows on white bedding, or pastel napkins with white place settings. When you do transition fully into spring, the colorful accents can get a little more vibrant.
Branches & Plant Leaves
Branches are great in-between accents because they can easily be associated with both winter and spring, depending on how they are used. Add some silk florals and give the branches a touch of color. Branches can be purchased at big-box retailers, such as Hobby Lobby or Michael’s. Bring in some greenery or branches to add color by using items from your own lawn/landscaping and add a free décor touch.
Glass & Metallics
Glass and metallic accents are perfect for the winter months, but all you need is some color to give them a spring touch. Tinted glass is a perfect mid-season accent for winter to spring décor. The cool color of this green glass jar is perfect to pair with an over-sized green leaf and some pink cherry blossoms.
No Right or Wrong
However you transition winter to spring decor, remember there’s no right or wrong with decorating your home. Do what fits your budget and makes you happy in your space. My decorating mantra is: You Do You!
During February we will be taking a look at more tips for getting organized, as well as decorating by “shopping your home.” Such a simple solution and something I love to do! Until next time… #livecreatively!
